
About the Role
The Homemaker/Parent Aid Facilitator (Contractor 1099) plays a critical role in stabilizing families involved in the child welfare system by offering structured, compassionate, and strengths-based support services. This position is designed for individuals who can provide hands-on assistance to parents struggling with meeting the demands of daily parenting and homemaking responsibilities. Through a combination of advocacy, instruction, and real-life modeling, the Homemaker/Parent Aid Facilitator helps caregivers develop the skills necessary to maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized home environment.
Using a trauma-informed, family-centered approach, the Homemaker/Parent Aid Facilitator teaches and reinforces essential life skills such as childcare, household maintenance, time management, meal preparation, budgeting, and safe discipline techniques. The role includes regular home visits, individualized coaching sessions, and collaboration with social workers, therapists, and other support professionals to ensure services align with each family’s case plan goals.
This position is ideal for contractors who are patient, empathetic, organized, and deeply committed to supporting family reunification, preventing out-of-home placements, and promoting long-term self-sufficiency.
Requirements
Provide direct, in-home support and intervention to families
Demonstrate appropriate homemaking and parenting strategies
Monitor progress and model behaviors that promote child safety and family stability
Encourage participation of caregivers to ensure sustainable outcomes
Promote skill-building that leads to long-term independence and self-sufficient.
Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Must be at least 21 years of age
At least 1-2 years of full-time employment experience providing hands on caregiver experience, particularly in a client at home setting.
Strong documentation, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries.
Must pass background checks as required by DCS guidelines including (criminal, educational, references, employment and child protective services).
Shared life experiences and are familiar with the communities where they will be working
Must be able to carry appropriate caseloads.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to use a private car, with applicable insurance, to transport self and others.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with DCS protocols and Indiana child welfare services is preferred.
Willingness to drive within assigned counties.
Must maintain a variety of insurances as a 1099 contractor including general and professional liability, auto, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or related field (required as a supervisor).
